As with all Estonians, the residents of Pärnu are also very proud of their national heritage. Authentic Estonian handicrafts can be purchased in many places, but the grandest and newest place to buy handicrafts and watch them being made is the Maarja-Magdaleena Guild (Uus 5).

Wonderful potters, rug makers, stone carvers, and many others work in the beautiful Maarja-Magdaleena Guild building in the centre of Pärnu Old Town. You can witness the preparation of interesting and unique items, and a Workshop Day is held on the second Saturday of every month.

On Saturdays, others are invited to join the artisans of the guild in making something authentic, and farmers’ markets are organised in the Steiner Garden opposite the guild house. At these markets, you can purchase souvenirs and fill your belly with authentic Estonian food.
