MTV jagas meie aja järgi ööl vastu 28. augustit muusikavideo auhindu Californias, Inglewoodi Foorumis. Toimunud galat juhtis imeline Katy Perry. 

Muusikavideo auhindadel esitles Taylor Swift oma uut videot loole "Look What You Made Me Do," esines Austraalia popstaar Lorde, Lil Uzi Vert esitas Ed Sheeraniga oma versiooni loost "XO Tour Llif3". Kendrick Lamari "Humble" võitis parima hip-hop video auhinna, Zayn ja Taylor Swift'is "I Don’t Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker)" võitis parima koostööprojekti, Ed Sheeran tituleeriti Aasta artistiks ning Kendrick Lamar võitis Aasta video tiitli.
