Pärnu is quite well covered by a bus network. The buses operate from 4 in the morning until almost midnight. However, service can be quite infrequent in the early morning and late at night.

The departure times and routes for the buses are posted at the bus stops. Tickets can be purchased from newspaper kiosks and bus drivers. The tickets for the Pärnu city buses cost 10 EEK when purchased from kiosks and 15 EEK when purchased from bus drivers. In addition to the city buses, buses no. 40 and 57 also operate in the city of Pärnu – the former connects Pärnu to the town of Sindi and to the small town of Sauga. The tickets for these buses cost 8 EEK at kiosks and 10 EEK when purchased from bus drivers.

Buses no. 40 and 57 also stop at the city bus stops and can be used to travel comfortably from one end of the city to the other.

In all the buses that operate in Pärnu, tickets are cancelled using the orange machines that stamp the date and time on the ticket. A ticket that is stamped in this manner is valid for one hour on all bus lines, so you can conveniently transfer from one bus to another within one hour without having to buy a new ticket.

Buses to destinations in Pärnu County and other cities depart from the bus station in the centre of Pärnu at the corner of Ringi and Pikk streets. Tickets can be purchased from Ringi 3, and the ticket windows are open from Monday to Sunday from 6:15 until 19:30. Tickets are also available from the bus drivers.

Pärnu Railway Station is located at Riia 116, just outside the center of town in the direction of Riga. The cozy Rae Café is currently located in the former railway station building and twice a day, at 7:17 and 17:09, passenger trains depart for Tallinn. The trip takes just over three hours.

Pärnu Airport, which was built on a former military airfield, is located next to Pärnu by the village of Eametsa in Sauga Rural Municipality (in the direction of Tallinn). Based on the length of its runway and size, it is in second largest in Estonia. The airport is located three kilometers from the city of Pärnu. Flights depart from Pärnu Airport to Ruhnu Island.

During the summer, flights between Pärnu and Stockholm are organised by Estonian Air in co-operation with the Pärnu sanatoriums. Flights are scheduled on Saturdays from 24th April to 19th June and 7th August to 2nd October 2010. For more information: www.parnu-airport.ee.
